6 Time Saving Techniques For Painting Your Home

If I had a dollar for every person who I have heard say they love painting their house, I would probably have zero dollars. Painting is a total process. It’s time consuming, messy, and inconvenient. But… not all hope is lost! The good news is, it doesn’t have to be! I partnered with my friends at HANDy Paint Products to show you all some easy techniques for making painting a little bit easier and quicker.

1. Keep A Sanding Block Close

Some wall mishaps don’t require a full patch job. For small areas of peeling paint, you can use a sanding block to smooth the surface prior to repainting! Now you can use some of the extra time you saved to do a happy dance (or paint another room, if you’re feeling frisky).

2. Save Time: One Pan, Two Colors

One of my favorite time-saving paint hacks is to use a heavy duty paint tray with removable or discardable liners. This not only saves me time and money in the long run, but also allows me to easily switch between multiple colors (such as a pure white for nooks and the colored paint for the walls).

A tray like the HANDy Paint Tray makes this extremely easy, as the liners are not only removable, but flexible. This allows me to save time by being able to pour leftover paints back into their pails and also quickly switch colors without having to rinse my good paint tray. This also makes cleanup easy later, since you can just throw the liners away. No washing needed!

3. Find A Safe Place For Your Brush

Nothing is worse than putting a tool down and forgetting where it went. Problem solved. Investing in a tray like the HANDy Paint Tray means your brush will always have a home. Easily switch between your roller and your brush by placing your paint brush on the magnetic strip located under the liner. You can save upwards of 15 to 30 minutes by just storing your brush in the right place (these statistics are based on a real-world experiences).

4. Get Crafty

I’m going to let you guys in on a secret weapon of mine: craft store paint brushes. Small detail brushes make painting around weird corners and edges a breeze.

5. Carry A Tray – Save Your Floor

Invest in a tray that’s heavy duty enough to allow you to pick it up without spilling or folding, making transporting  your paint extremely easy. No more kicking things around, trying to empty your tray before you move it, or worrying about spilling. Less time spent worrying means you’ll finish the job sooner!

6. Keep Touch-Up Leftovers

Pour some of your leftover paint into a tupperware container and label it for later use. It’s easier to touch-up a wall than paint the whole thing again later! Besides, I don’t know about you, but I have a surplus of tupperware containers, and if they’re not being used for edible leftovers, I might as well use them for paint leftovers!

Bonus Time-Saving Fact: If you can’t finish the job in one day, wrap your brushes and rollers in plastic bags. That way you don’t have to rinse or throw anything away!

Now that you’ve seen these time saving hacks, it’s finally time to get started on repainting! Want to save these tips for later? Make sure to Pin This post!
