DIY Deck Makeover

My grandparents’ deck has been in need of some love for a long time, and with nowhere to go right now, this felt like the perfect time to do it! I took a few days out of my schedule recently and decided to surprise them with a full-blown deck makeover along with my friends at The Home Depot and Olympic Stains. This project surprisingly only took me about two days of actual work, and the results were SO worth it… even cooler, I’m spilling all of the details on how I made it happen on The Home Depot blog!

My grandparents’ deck wasn’t in the worst condition, but definitely needed some TLC. Here’s what it looked like before:

I can’t even believe it’s the same space – my grandparents were so stoked (make sure to check out the video to see their reactions)!

This project was so much easier to complete than I thought it would be thanks to Olympic’s Deck Cleaner and Elite Solid Stain (it has a sealer built in, which means way less work). No wonder they have been rated the #1 solid stain by the Independent Consumer Study.

Great work on the deck makeover. Everyone needs a nice place to relax and socialize and it’s even better when it’s a place you built yourself. Crazy how a little stain and new furniture can completely change the atmosphere.
