DIY Easy Wooden Coat Rack
A lot of my readers have been asking for a good project for beginners lately, so I partnered with Kreg and BuildSomething to provide just that. I made this simple coat rack with pocket hole joinery for $5 in lumber! Include the hooks, a small can of stain, and screws, and you’ve got yourself a new, personalized coat rack for right around $20! Not only do I have you covered with free plans, but I also have a YouTube tutorial out as well. Now there’s really no excuse to not get started!

While this project can easily be made with braces on the back that are nailed into the front boards, I chose pocket hole joinery so my coat rack could hang flush on the wall. I already live in a tight space and don’t need any objects jutting out into the hallway.
As always, here are the links to the products used in this project:
1 x 4 x 6′ Common Board
(4) Coat Hooks
(2) Wall Hooks
Varathane Stain in Ash
1 1/4″ Pocket Hole Screws
Kreg Jig (K5)
Make sure to visit BuildSomething.com for the full plans. Also, check out my YouTube video for the filmed version!
Want to pin it for later? Here you go!
I hope this project inspires some of my beginners to grab those power tools and get to work! As always, be sure to share your projects on social media to #diyhuntress and #diyhunted. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to reach out!
Until next time…
