DIY Rolling Benchtop Tool Stand
I absolutely love my new RYOBI Power Tools Router Table. But, let’s be honest, the thing is real awkward to use on a typical workbench. It’s way too high to operate comfortably. In all honesty, it’s been sitting on the floor of my shop and then gets propped up on some boxes when I’m ready to use it. Not cool. To make my life easier, I decided it was time to make my own benchtop tool stand. Best part is, I didn’t have to rip apart my pockets for this project. Made this puppy for $25 in lumber!
Not only was this benchtop build really affordable, but by propping up on wheels I can move it around my teeny-tiny workshop with ease. Being in a small space means I need to be creative about the spaces I’m working with and on – and, I think I did a good job with this one (if I must say so myself).
If you’re looking to make your own rolling tool bench, you can find the plans on BuildSomething (or click the image below)! If this “benchtop tool” specific stand is too short for you, all you have to do is adjust the height of the legs and you’re in business!
While you guys build your own benches, I’ll be busy becoming BFF with my router table again.
… and in case you want to save this for later. Here’s a Pin!
As always, if you have any questions during this build, feel free to reach out!

5 years agoThe side supports appear to be 2×6 even though material list shows all 2×4’s..
I would like o make my daughter a working garage table for making trophies etc… I am wondering if I used 2 x 6 side supports if I could extend to 8 feet?

5 years ago AUTHORHi! I only used 2×4’s in this project! You might be okay if you bulk up the lumber and use 2x6s! It depends on how much weight she would have on the table. To be safe, I’d probably add center supports (or, center “legs”) to help keep everything sturdy.

2 years agoJust built one of these per plan, although I lengthened the legs a bit to have it sit higher. Works great. Thanks for designing and posting!
