DIY Small Bathroom Makeover

small modern bathroom makeover ideas

After MONTHS of hard work, my DIY small bathroom renovation is finally done (and, I could literally cry)! This four-week-turned-ten-week renovation was a total labor of love, and I could not be happier with the outcome. We legit have our dream shower in our first house and I cannot believe it’s ours. I tackled the full  bathroom demolition and bathroom tiling project on my channel a few months ago when we started, and now it’s time to share the full reveal! We are so stoked about this bathroom and hope you all love it as much as we do!

Let’s start at the beginning. This is what our bathroom looked like before:

Aesthetically speaking, there really wasn’t anything wrong with this bathroom. But, structurally, it was kind of a mess. Tiles were loose and falling out of place, there was water damage stuck beneath the tiles, we had some structural issues in the walls of the bathroom… so, I wanted to make sure we did this the right way before moving in.

Also, did I mention this is the only bathroom we have in this house? So, we needed to renovate it before moving in, for sure.

First up, was demo. Dad and I took about a day and a half to rip this bathroom to the studs. You can see this in action in the bathroom demo video on YouTube!

Once the bathroom was gutted, it was time to rebuild. Dad installed some new plumbing in the shower, I handled any issues with studs, and then the drywall went up and tiles went down (you can catch all of the details on that process in my tiling post & YouTube video).

Next up, it was time to get the shower tiled (can we talk about that 90-degree herringbone though?) and install the gorgeous shower fixtures from American Standard.

The ONE thing my other half asked for in this house was multiple shower heads. So, we totally delivered on this! For the shower, I chose 2 American Standard Studio S rain shower heads in matte black with 2 Contemporary Hand Shower Kits. By installing a Studio S 2-Handle Diverter Trim Kit, we’re able to run all 4 at the same time (insert heart-eye emoji x 25).

I also installed a fresh vanity with a coordinating Studio S Faucet in matte black.

We also installed a super fancy American Standard Champion Toilet —  I’ve honestly never been so excited about a toilet in my life. Not only does is virtually eliminate clogs, it also has an EverClean surface to help inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria to keep odors and stains away!

After TWO MONTHS of renovating this bathroom, we are DONE and I could not be happier! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Just a reminder… here is the before…

… and, here is what it looks like now!

I cannot believe that this is the SAME BATHROOM and that it is MY BATHROOM. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜

P.S. How cute are those shampoo bottles?

Now that the bathroom is done, I am so excited to start focusing on some other projects in my house!

If you are as excited about my new bathroom as I am, please feel free to Pin This post for some ideas later!

Gorgeous! Can you tell me the dimensions of the shower area? Can you two both fit comfortably in the shower together? We have a garden tub in our bathroom we want to rip out and turn into a big shower but I’m wondering if that is enough room.

    Thanks!

That is a huge transformation!! It used to look so bland but outdated and now it looks incredible. I love the shower wall tile and the built in-shelf!

Thanks for sharing, I love seeing full-room transformations!
