DIY Wooden Outdoor Bar
For those of you who follow me on social media, you’ll know two things about me: first, I just graduated with my PhD in Psychology! Second, I built a bar for my graduation party. Go big or go home, right? Luckily, my friends at 84 Lumber partnered with me to help make my graduation dreams come true, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome! The wood used on this project is gorgeous, and the bar is the talk of the block! Best part is, I was able to build this guy in less than a week (which is mega impressive considering my crazy schedule)!
Let’s talk some details here…

First, not only am I confident that this bar will withstand the summer rains Mother Nature loves to throw around, but it also contains an awesome amount of storage for future parties.
Also, who wouldn’t want a personal bar in their backyard?
Now, I know the build and the design look a bit scary because it’s a big piece of furniture, but the overall frame is a tutorial that you’ve seen in other projects I’ve done such as my DIY Record Cabinet and DIY Rustic X-Leg Bench. It’s basically a big rectangle with some flair.
And that front design? Well, you’ve seen that in a smaller version on my DIY Yoga Mat Holder.
Easy enough, right? Now that I have you thinking, “I can totally do this”, you can find the free printable plans for this build courtesy of my friends at 84 Lumber by clicking on the image below!
As always, here is a list of some of the life saving items that made this build so much easier!
KREG Foreman Pocket Hole Jig
Outdoor Wood Stain & Sealer in One
Cadex Brand Pin Nailer (for front panel)
Carpenter’s Glue
… also, wine and beer should be on this list as well, since you are building a bar and all. You’ll need to be rewarded once this build is complete. Just saying…
Also, the trick to this build was using wood that was cut and milled really carefully. There was no warping and it needed minimal sanding. Luckily, my local 84 Lumber in Riverhead, NY helped me handpick affordable material for this build with my budget and my readers in mind and they even prepped the wood for me prior to delivery. They were total lifesavers!
In any event, I hope I’ve inspired someone out there to get out in their backyard and build this bar! It was so fulfilling to hear guests at my party compliment the build and ask me to build them one as well (to which I obviously told them to wait for this post to be published so they can build their own because that’s way more fulfilling).
Want to build this later? Make sure to Pin This project to find the plans later!
If you build this bar, or any other project on my blog, please show me! Tag your projects to #diyhuntress and #diyhunted on social media! I love seeing what you’re working on!
In the meantime, I hope everyone celebrates something awesome in their lives very soon!
