DIY Wooden Ruler Growth Chart

Lots of my friends are having babies and getting married! That means fun family-friendly gifts and new projects! When my friend told me she was having a baby this year, we decided it would be fun to make a growth chart for the little man. This project was super simple and cost friendly (which is great for families on a budget)! I thought the growth chart was so cute that I almost stole it for my own selfish purposes! Here’s how I did it, and how you can too!

How To Make A Wooden Ruler Growth Chart

What You’ll Need:
 Tools
Paint Brush
Tape Measure
Straight Edge/Ruler
Printer/Computer
X-Acto Knife
SharpieMaterials

4′ – 6′ Wood Board (mine was 4′)
Stain
TapeThe Steps:

1. Stain your cut piece of wood.

2. Once dry, use your measuring tape to mark your growth points. Because my wood slab was 4 feet tall, I decided to start it at 1.5 feet (poppa dukes will have to hang the growth chart 1.5 feet off the ground for accurate measurement).

3. Use a Sharpie and a straight edge to make the markings permanent. I chose to make the feet markings largest.

4. Print numbers to use for your chart (you can also use numbered stencils from the craft store).

5. Use an X-Acto knife to cut out the numbers if you are printing them from home. Once cut, tape them to your board.

6. Color in your stencils with Sharpie.

7. Add a hook to the back and hang!

Quick Reminder: Make sure to hang your growth chart on the wall according to the markings on the bottom! For instance, this one starts at a foot and a half, so it should be hung a foot and a half off the ground.

Could you see yourself making a project like this for your home? I want to know!
