Easy DIY Veggie Garden in One Day

Easy DIY Veggie Garden in One Day

Thinking about starting a veggie garden this summer but worried you missed your window? Good news, it’s not too late. Whether you’re starting from scratch, adding a few raised beds, or just trying to make the most of a sunny corner, there’s still plenty of time to grow something delicious.

When I built this veggie garden I was still a total newbie, and honestly, it made me hooked on growing my own food. With the right gear, good soil, and a little bit of planning, I was able to turn a bare patch of yard into a raised bed garden full of potentially delicious veggies. The best part? You only meed ONE day!

So whether you have a backyard, a balcony, or just a small sunny spot, this project is a great reminder that you don’t need a green thumb to get started. You just need a place to grow, a little motivation, and maybe one free day. Let’s get started, friends!

1. Level the Land

First step was to clear and level the land where my raised bed was going to live. A good shovel made all the difference.

2. Build a Raised Bed

Next up I built a raised bed with an easy to assemble kit made of cedar boards and metal posts.

3. Line the Bed With Weed Barrier

Then it was time to line the bed with landscaping fabric to help keep the weeds out. I literally just stapled it to the inside of the bed.

4. Get Dirty

It was time to fill the bed, so I carted in some really good quality soil and just loaded up the beds to get them ready for planting!

5. Plant the Fruits and Veggies

This was definitely the fun part when I got to plant the fruits and veggies. I went with a mix of tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, berries, broccoli and potatoes. I don’t know about you, but I’m really food motivated. My trowel was a big help with this step.

6. Soak the Plants

Then it was time to give these plant babies a solid soaking using the rain shower hose attachment.

A Raised Bed Veggie Garden

And just like that, you’ve got yourself a veggie garden in ONE day! With the right tools, good soil, and a little hustle, you can start growing your own food this summer too.

What kinds of fruits, veggies, or herbs are you going to plant? I can’t wait to start harvesting, and every year I get a little more creative with what I grow.

Stay tuned for more outdoor projects this summer. Until then, happy DIYing, friends!
