Over the past week or so I have been teasing a fun build on Snapchat and Instagram. Well, today is finally the day I get to share the big reveal! Even better, I’m also offering free woodworking plans, courtesy of Kreg and Build Something so that you can build your own! I created a fun, rustic entryway bench with room for storage and a trendy “X” design. Best part is, the entire project is made from 2×4’s and one 2×2. Bonus win, the wood for this project cost me right around $30! Not bad for a big and practical build!
Fourth of July is right around the corner, and I’ll be celebrating America’s independence in the most patriotic way possible – a backyard BBQ and listening to the Hamilton album on repeat (okay, maybe that’s just me). But for real, backyard BBQ’ing will be commencing, so that means we’re going to need somewhere to hold our adult (and kid) beverages. I spent some time in the shop this week creating a distressed, patriotic beverage cooler to show off at the party I’ll be attending. It only required a few simple tools and two afternoons to create!
In a few days it will officially be summer! Summer means a lot of crazy, cool things: wedding season, prom, Father’s Day is this weekend, parties with friends, backyard BBQ’s (I never say no to those). Let’s face it though, all of these events are awesome, but they mean one thing – you’re going to need something cool to wear. That’s where I come in. I’ve been obsessed with the wooden bow tie trend and have officially decided to hop on board. These puppies were mega easy to make and didn’t require any sewing on my part (mostly because I suck at sewing). Also, I got to use my extra large scrap pile for the job; so, bonus points for me.
My favorite projects in the whole wide world are pallet projects; mostly because they are easy to find and easy to use. Also, a lot of you guys seem to request different variations of pallet art, and I am all ears. To be perfectly honest, this was the scariest project I’ve ever done. Not because it was hard or anything, but mostly because it is on YOUTUBE as my first video tutorial (cue me screaming… and not in a cute way, but in a “what did I get myself into” way). While I’ve done similar projects like this in the past, wooden letters have been specifically requested. So, I thought, why not make this my first video/blog experiment? Please tell me I made a good choice…
