I don’t have a lot of jewelry (I actually had to steal some from other people for this photo)… but I for sure have a lot of driftwood from my walks on the beach in Montauk. In fact, I have so much driftwood, that I have a basket full of it in the closet, and no use for any of the branches. That being said, I decided to take it back to my crafting roots …
My favorite projects in the whole wide world are pallet projects; mostly because they are easy to find and easy to use. Also, a lot of you guys seem to request different variations of pallet art, and I am all ears. To be perfectly honest, this was the scariest project I’ve ever done. Not because it was hard or anything, but mostly because it is on YOUTUBE as my first video tutorial (cue me screaming… and not in a cute way, but in a “what did I get myself into” way). While I’ve done similar projects like this in the past, wooden letters have been specifically requested. So, I thought, why not make this my first video/blog experiment? Please tell me I made a good choice…
Hi, my name is Sam and I am addicted to coffee. Okay, now that I have admitted I have a problem, I can further investigate that problem with a DIY project. I love my Keurig coffee maker. It literally fuels me. Drinking coffee is like pumping gas in a car. That being said, it is very important that I keep my life force in order. We’ve had tons of different storage solutions for our k-cup coffee pods, but nothing seemed to really tickle my fancy. I began looking up some options for creating my own, but then realized that none of what already existed in cyberspace was specifically tailored for the Keurig VUE system, which has larger pods than the traditional brewer. Of course, being the DIY Huntress, I decided to make one on my own.
A few weeks ago the beautiful, rad, and talented Rachel Metz reached out to me about a collaboration, and I couldn’t be more stoked! Together, we put our creative brains to work and decided it would be so much fun to do a DIY swap challenge. So, the two of us went to our respective shops on opposite coasts (she’s all the way in California), packaged up some fun materials, and sent them to each other. I sent her a box full of goodies that she made into the cutest Mason Jar Sconces, and I used her materials to create bohemian mixed-media string art for my bedroom! This project was so much fun and had my mind racing – there are so many things you can do with string, nails, and wood! Here’s how I made mine, and how you can make your own!
