If there is one thing I’m really good at, it’s hoarding lumber. I have had a gorgeous live edge piece of walnut in my shop for months and had no clue what to do with it… until now! In just a few short steps I was recently able to transform a walnut slab into a DIY floating fireplace mantel (and was able to do it one weekend)! Not in the market for a mantle? In case Mother Nature (or, if you’re like me, your allergies) hasn’t told you yet, Spring is in full force! Warmer weather and longer days mean time for outdoor projects, and I couldn’t be more excited! If you’ve been following my journey on Instagram, you’ll know that I am in the middle of a huge shed-shop renovation. Which means it’s time to spice up the exterior of the shop to look as pretty as the rest of my parents’ yard! So, I partnered up with my friends at The Home Depot and Olympic to create a pair of modern slat wood planters and made some magic happen!

If there is one thing we can all agree on in 2020, it’s that you can never have enough workspaces at home (am I right?). The problem is that most desks are bulky and require a dedicated office space. However, when you’re in a small space (like my 525 square foot apartment), office space is hard to come by. So to help combat this problem, I decided to try my hand at creating a compact
