After a few months of working full time from home and staring at the custom fireplace I built every day, I decided it’s time to add a mantel! Talk about perfect timing for the holiday season, am I right? This build took me ONE WEEKEND to do and cost me under $100!
I have been working on SO many project in this house! I’m all over the place, and I’m embracing it. Last time we checked in, I was working on the bathroom renovation in our house, but we hit a snag. So, while I wait for things to be delivered and fixed, I figured why not build a DIY Electric Fireplace & Entertainment Center for the house! It felt insanely good to get back to something I feel like I’m decently good at (woodworking)… and, the project turned out awesome!
Between working on the store and working… well, at work… I haven’t been able to juggle many home projects. But, there is one project I have been wanting to do that I was able to find a few days to swing, and I am so stoked about it! I have been wanting to transform a floor mirror I purchased at Target a few years ago into a live edge mirror using a cut off piece of lumber from the fireplace mantle I made a few months ago. So, I recycled the glass and made a DIY live edge mirror!
As of recently, I have been finding myself completely obsessed with mid-century modern sideboards and media cabinets. It’s almost like a disease. I just stare at them and wish I could afford the upwards of $1,000 price tag that exists on some of these beautiful units. Then opportunity knocked when I was challenged to create a cool project from only one sheet of plywood. Taa-daa! Easy modern media cabinet for literally 1/10th of the price including hardware and finishes!
Update: This build now has TWO versions! Keep reading to check them both out!
