Springtime on Long Island means it’s time to get outside, and what’s better than a weekend project to upgrade your yard game? You all know that because I was a side hustler for so long I love something that can be accomplished in just a weekend and this easy smokeless fire pit project was so quick to pull together while still having a high return on design and functionality.
S’mores anyone?
I wanted this side area next to my garage shop to be a fun hangout spot for a fire pit and of course, who doesn’t like s’mores? So I got some asymmetrical pavers, a new fire pit, added some lighting and seating and voilá! I’m so happy with the result, and I hope this project inspires you to tackle a weekend project too!

1. Lay Pavers

I found these really cool mosaic looking cut-to-size pavers that were just perfect for my fire pit area. They have small pieces of metal connecting them so you can just snip where you want to customize the size and shape that you need for your space.

First, I chose a layout for the pavers and clipped the pieces off to get the shape I needed.
2. Secure and level out the pavers

Next I cut the grass around the pavers with my landscaping knife to help them stay in place in the grass.

Next I dug out the grass underneath the pavers to make them level.

It wasn’t too difficult for me to remove the sod from underneath the pavers because we just had it put in last year and it hadn’t rooted a ton.

After making the stones even and flat I back filled the pavers with some dirt I had in my shed.

Then I used a brush to spread it throughout the pavers.

I used my leaf blower to clean off the pavers of any excess dirt and grass.

Then watered the grass and dirt to make sure everything would stay in place and.
3. Decorate

I got a new smokeless fire pit and mosquito repellent lights to really make it the ultimate outdoor hangout space.

I placed the fire pit on the stones and hammered the light poles into the grass.

Then it was time to hang the lights, I attached them to the side of my garage.

These chairs were just perfect for the space too!

Finally, it was time to light the fire, sit back and enjoy.
The finished project

I am so happy with how this quick weekend project turned out. There is nothing like a short and sweet outdoor upgrade to kick off the summer and I know we’re going to get so much use out of this perfect hangout spot in our yard. Hope you enjoyed this one, and as always, happy DIYing!
