DIYer Gift Guide: Safety first

You all know I take safety seriously in my shop, so what better way to show the DIYer in your life that you care about them than to get them some PPE to keep them safe? Not only do we want function but we also want comfort and style. So I’ve put together this list of items I love. If you need help finding that perfect gift, keep reading and I hope you’ll find so much joy in giving gifts that will be used and loved!

Safety Gear

Eye Protection

It is so important to protect your eyes while you’re working. Especially when you’re working with power tools or chemicals. Anything that can become projectile puts your eyes at risk. So let’s protect those eyes. I really like these safety glasses. They’re both functional and cute so you can keep your eyes safe in style.

Hearing Protection

Anytime you’re working with loud tools you want to make sure you protect your ears. But just silencing the world can get a little dull after a while. I like to use hearing protection that doubles as bluetooth headphones so I can jam while I work. If one thing is true though, I’ll be sure to be singing my heart out while I work.

Gloves

A lot of DIY projects require you to lug materials or handle rough and sharp materials. It’s so helpful to have a good pair of gloves on hand (ha!) that will give you a secure grip while protecting your skin. These gloves come in different sizes, a proper fit also being an important part of an effective glove.

Dust Mask

DIY can be messy so a mask is key to avoid breathing in fumes or dust. There’s nothing worse than doing a ton of sanding without a mask, and you’ve got to protect your lungs. This mask is great because it uses replaceable filters and has valves to make it more comfortable for a long wear.

First Aid Kit

This goes without saying right? Unfortunately, accidents do happen and you want to know exactly where to go when you need even just a band aid. This kit has a lot of great first aid supplies and comes in a workshop friendly case.

Fire Extinguisher

Always a great idea to have a fire extinguisher at the ready. You want to use best practices and I hope you’ll never need to use it, but just like a first aid kit it’s better to be prepared. If you have a laser cutter, any welding equipment, a metal grinder or other equipment that throws sparks or uses a flame you might want to have an additional fire extinguisher close yo that tool just in case.
