Setting up an efficient home office space doesn’t need to be complicated (or expensive). It’s super easy to take advantage of underused spaces and get creative with your set up. Here are 3 ways I’ve done the same thing in my favorite spaces!

1. Create A Desk Space (Even When Space Is Limited)

It’s super important to be able to separate your work life from your home life, even when you do physically work from home. Having separation is a great way to stay focused and organized.

A desk setup doesn’t need to be intrusive – in fact you can squeeze a desk in the smallest of places, like a nook or an underused storage closet! You can even make one that folds down from the wall!

Don’t have a nook to build a desk in? No sweat, you can even create a work from home space from smaller, unique items like slabs of wood or shelving units.

2. Improve Sound In Your Workspace

If you already have a work-from-home space or a home office, the easiest way to help you remain focused is to provide sound blocking from room to room to better your workspace. Whether your home office is in a spare bedroom, or in the basement, the easiest way to do this is to install decorative sound panel and/or ceiling solutions (like Armstrong Ceiling’s Country Classic Ceiling Plank in White)!

Installing tongue-and-groove mineral fiber ceiling planks is an easy way to not only add sound blocking in a space, but also add character! Even better, it’s super simple to install and can make a huge impact in just a few days! My dad and I installed a wood-look plank product also from Armstrong Ceilings in their unfinished basement in just one weekend, which has been perfect for the work from home space we created in the basement nook! In fact, you can check out the entire installation process on my YouTube channel!

It can be installed directly to the ceiling with adhesive or can be mounted on easy up tracks and clips for tiles and planks at an affordable price point!

3. Create Minimal (But Effective) Storage Solutions!

A little organization goes a long way! Whether it’s on the wall or on your desk, small organization projects can make a huge impact on a work from home space!

Even better, small organization projects make great scrap wood projects (double win)!
