DIY Wood Accent Wall & Laundry Room Makeover
I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the idea of having a wood accent wall in my home. But, since I recently moved into a rental, this dream just isn’t ideal. But, the good news is that I was able to gift a wood wall to two people I love – my parents! Thanks to my friends at The Home Depot, I was able to give my parents an epic laundry room makeover and install a wood accent wall in one whole weekend! Even better? You can find the free tutorial on The Home Depot Blog!
DIY Wood Accent Wall & Laundry Room Makeover
To fill you guys in, my parents are epic. They are two of the sweetest, generous, and hardest-working people you’ll ever meet (I’m sure most people feel this way about their parents, but they’re pretty hard to beat). Over the past 25 years, they have worked to make their first home together their dream home.. with one small problem. They hadn’t figured out how to solve the identity crisis in their laundry room.
That’s where I came in! I partnered with The Home Depot to clean out their space and give it an epic makeover. Check out this before and after.
The biggest impact in this space is the wood accent wall (amiright?) – which, to be honest, was the easiest part of this whole makeover! I was able to install the entire wall in ONE DAY (not lying). But, I was also a bit ambitious and employed the help of my other half for the day, so that’s why I suggest taking a weekend.
For this project, we used Weathered Hardwood Boards from The Home Depot. This made installing an organic pattern SO easy since they already came in packs of 8 with random, but slight, color variations.
And for the storage? Those beautiful pantries are also from The Home Depot! Now my parents can have their laundry room and keep their pantry as well. One stop shopping done right.
I also made sure to spice up their space with some custom signage (my mom said that it’s about time I made her a custom sign).
Want to learn how easy it was to install these boards with the right tools? You can check out the full tutorial on The Home Depot Blog!

So, while I can’t have a wood wall in my own dream home just yet, I’m happy I was able to give one to my parents… and with the last project in their home done, it looks like it may be time for me to get my own house soon (a girl can dream)!
Until then…
